WHAT IS ROSE MILK MADE OF?
Pretty simple ingredients. Milk, sugar and rose syrup. That is it! Nothing complicated, no hard to source ingredients. And the recipe is so simple that kiddos can make it.
IS ROSE WATER AND ROSE SYRUP SAME?
Rose syrup is different from rose water. Both have the delicate aroma of rose and are made by steeping rose petals in water. The similarities stop there. Rose syrup has added sugar in it and has a lovely red color and has a thicker consistency. Rose water is colorless bland liquid with the rose fragrance. I have used rose water to make the super delish Panna Cotta. Do check it out!
WHY THE BEETROOT JUICE IN ROSE MILK RECIPE?
Well, that is kinda my personal touch to this summer cooler. Most of the time I end up buying rose syrup when I visit an Indian store. I don't always get the same brand and each brand varies in the sweetness or the color it gives when I make the rose milk. I am kinda big fan of the lovely pink color of the rose milk and there were a few instances where the different brands of rose syrup did not give me enough color or sweetness. So, I started adding beetroot juice (just grate a small beetroot and squeeze the juice) and voila! The lovely pink color resulted. So, I made it a habit of adding a wee bit of beetroot juice while making the rose milk. Sweetness can be adjusted using sugar to get the desired taste.
